This is trade #5 in the AI-assisted series, bought at the New York open on 3 November, two sessions after the Amazon buy. Written before the result is known. The ticker was my idea; the size, the price, the stop and the alert levels were Claude’s. The decision was mine.

Why I am doing this
I first bought Boeing in 2020 at about 170. It is back there. On 27 October the stock gapped down 10.7% on third-quarter results, from 188 to 168, on 34 million shares, seven times a normal day. By 30 October the selling had faded to five million shares and the price had stopped falling. I asked Claude to look at it. The series needed a name that was not a chip stock and not Amazon, and this one I know.
What I believed before the trade
- The earnings gap was the bad news, and it was priced in one day.
- Selling that fades from 34 million to 5 million shares in three sessions is selling that is done.
- The first stop on the way back up is the gap edge at 186, with the 20-day average just under it.
- If I was wrong, the 52-week low at 165 would say so, and the stop sits just under it.
The evidence available at the time
The case for
- 27 Oct 2026, Q3 results: revenue USD 24.19B; backlog USD 612B plus USD 101B in defence; free cash flow positive at USD 464M after a USD 700M DOJ payment.
- 30 Oct 2026: volume down to 5.3M from 34M on the gap day. The low of the move, 165.01, was set on 28 October and held on 29 and 30 October.
- 2 Nov 2026: closed at 175.40, above the 30 October high of 173.83. That is the entry trigger, and it fired the night before I bought.
- RSI 14 at 37.8 on the 2 Nov close: weak, no longer falling.
- The stock sat on the 61.8% Fibonacci level of the 2025-26 rise (176.8).
The case against
- 27 Oct 2026: core loss per share 0.34; the 737 rate of 47 a month slips to early 2027; free cash flow guided to about USD 2B for 2026 and USD 3B for 2027 against roughly USD 5.5B expected. Debt USD 45.9B. The gap was about guidance, and guidance does not change in a month.
- 2 Nov 2026: price closed 5.2% below the 20-day average and 11.4% below the 50-day. Fifth buy in the series below both averages; the first four went one target, two stops, one open.
- The stop at 164.50 is only 61 cents under the 28 October low. A retest of 165 that overshoots takes me out before the bounce.
- The weekly count says this is still inside a four-year triangle. Triangles resolve either way.
Basic TA at entry
BA, as of the 2 Nov 2026 close, from IBKR daily bars.
| Indicator | Value | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Price | 175.40 | Below both moving averages |
| MA20 | 184.46 | Price 5.2% below; MA20 falling (198.99 twenty sessions earlier) |
| MA50 | 195.35 | Price 11.4% below |
| RSI 14 | 37.8 | Weak, not oversold |
| Trend | Down | Lower highs since the 254 top in January; earnings gap on 27 Oct |
| Support | 165.01 (28 Oct low, 52-week low) | 5.9% below price |
| Resistance | 186.08 (26 Oct low, gap edge) | 6.1% above price; MA20 at 184.46 |
| Volume | 6.3M vs 6.3M 20-day average | Normal, after 34M on the gap day |
| Trigger | Yes | 2 Nov close 175.40 above the 30 Oct high of 173.83 |
Overall read: a bounce buy below both averages, on the trigger, with the stop under the 52-week low. The gap edge at 186 is the first test.

Claude
Claude put Boeing second on the watch list on 2 November, behind Amazon, amber on a trigger close above 173.83 and red before it. Seven shares, limit 174.50, no chase above 177. Stop 164.50 GTC under the 52-week low of 165.01. Reference level 186 (the gap edge, the 20-day average, the 23.6% retracement of the January to October fall) and a second at 191.50 (the 50% Fibonacci of the 2025-26 rise). Decision point 30 November, before the late-January results. Claude’s pushback: the gap was about free cash flow guidance for two years out, and a bounce does not fix that.
Me
The trigger fired on the 2 November close while I slept. I bought at the open the next evening, six shares at 175.12, inside the no-chase line, with the stop on the ticket. One share fewer than the call; the cash on hand after Amazon decided that, not a view on the trade. Right or wrong, I am trying to get back in at a level I am comfortable with. The lesson will come.
Selling that fades from 34 million to 5 million shares in three sessions is selling that is done. Or so I believe.
How it was executed
Buy ticket placed at 21:57 SGT, before the open, limit 175.12, Day, with the 164.50 stop attached GTC. Filled at 22:30:01 SGT, the first second of the session, on NYSE. Stop 164.50 GTC, six shares, confirmed under Open Orders. No price alerts: with only a few positions open I watch the price myself.

What would make this wrong
- A close below 165.01. The stop at 164.50 is right under it; I would be out at about minus 6%.
- A failed test of the gap edge at 186 followed by a lower high. That says the gap is resistance now, not a hole to fill.
- Any new guidance cut or production news before 30 November. The thesis is that the bad news is out.
- A drift to 30 November without touching 186. Dead money is a cost too.
