Terms of Use
The terms for reading, linking to, quoting and commenting on Thawaio. They are meant to be short, fair and easy to follow.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
About these terms
Thawaio is a personal blog written and run by one person based in Singapore, referred to here as “I” or “the author”. By using the site, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Personal writing
Everything on Thawaio is personal writing about travel, food, finance, technology, digital life and personal musings. It is shared for general information and interest. It reflects my own experiences and opinions at the time of writing, and it is not professional advice of any kind.
Finance posts in particular record my own decisions, gains, losses and mistakes. Please read the Financial disclaimer before relying on anything in them.
Copyright
Unless stated otherwise, the writing and photographs on Thawaio are the author’s and are protected by copyright. Material from other people, such as a photograph credited to someone else, belongs to its owner and is used under the terms shown with it.
What you may do
- Read the site, and save or print articles for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- Link to any article.
- Quote brief passages where applicable law allows, for example for commentary, criticism or review, with clear attribution to Thawaio and a link to the original article.
For anything else, including republishing an article or a photograph, please ask for permission first.
What you may not do
- Republish articles or photographs in full or in substantial part without permission.
- Present the author’s work as your own, or impersonate the author.
- Remove or alter copyright notices, credits or attributions.
- Use automated tools to extract content from the site for commercial reuse.
- Exploit the site or its content commercially without written permission.
- Interfere with the site, its security or its availability to others.
Automated extraction of substantial parts of Thawaio for artificial-intelligence model training or commercial reuse is not permitted without written permission. This restriction does not prohibit ordinary search-engine indexing or link previews that respect the site’s published crawler rules. It is a condition of using the site; technical controls may not prevent every crawler.
Comments
Comments are provided through Disqus and load only if you select Show comments. When you comment, you are also using Disqus and are subject to its terms: Disqus terms of service (external site).
You are responsible for what you post. Please keep comments relevant and respectful, and do not share other people’s personal information. I may hide or remove comments that are unlawful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, spam, invasive of someone’s privacy or otherwise inappropriate.
Links to other sites
Articles link to other websites for reference. I do not control those sites and am not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
Availability
I aim to keep Thawaio available, but it may change, be interrupted or be taken down at any time. Articles may be updated or removed; when an article changes meaningfully, it shows the date it was updated.
Accuracy and liability
I write carefully, but articles can contain errors and may go out of date. The site is provided as it is, without promises that it is complete, accurate or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Privacy
How information is handled is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute about them, to the extent permitted by law. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of the country where you live.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last updated, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
